Hello
AAAGHHH! Is this real? Am I really writing my first blog for my website and business??? This whole thing has been in the making for the past year. As I type this, I have the biggest smile on my face. This is like when you find an awesome piece of furniture at Goodwill on Monday when its 25% discount day or like when you find the perfect paint color from the "oops" section at Lowe's or when you go to Michael's and you get to use your 40% coupon and the sale on that one item that you have been stalking for months. I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's go back to the best part, the beginning.
This all started last year when I was given a piece of furniture that my dad had made for me and my family when we moved in to our new house. Our present was a coffee table along with two end tables. My dad had every intention of finishing the pieces for me but was getting frustrated with finish I had found on Pinterest. Most people would have been surprised and possibly deflated as your parents are standing at the front door with unfinished tables. By unfinished I mean fully built but the wood was raw, as in just sanded and put together. I am not like most people, when I saw my parents at the door with these beautiful tables my creative mind was overflowing with ideas and possibilities and thus I found my passion. See I grew up in a family that was very handy. Hence, my dad making a coffee table and two end tables instead of going out and buying something new.
Over the past year one thing was true. After completing this project I was hooked. I started to look at furniture that I would normally just give to Goodwill as something that I could transform completely with an update and just a little bit of love. Once we were settled in the house and we started having people over they would see the few pieces I had updated or created (with the help of my family) and I started getting offers to update other furniture for family and friends and that's how A Rustic Rose was born.
I have truly enjoyed the journey to get to this point and can't wait to see where it will take me. I hope that the posts that follow will be helpful in your journey and you enjoy them as much as I enjoy putting them together.
Thank you for spending time with me and until next time....
